IPL CHENNAI SUPER KINGS BEAT MUMBAI INDIANS

This was the eighth match for the Indian Premier League and atleast , this  was an exciting match with scores of 200 plus and to finish Mumbai Indians needed 8 off 2 - but could not do this . If they had done it , it would have been a tremendous thirty fifth birthday present for Capt Sachin Tendulakar . He must be itiching to get in and play !

M S Dhoni's IPL Chennai Super Kings team batted first and you had Mathew Hayden blazing away to 81 off 46 with two sixes and getting  run out before he could become the third centurian in this Indian Premier League  .  Suresh Raina helped along with 53 of 37 with three sixes and Capt.M S Dhoni as ususal came in and scored a quick 30 off 16 with one six  , Chennai super Kings ending with 208 for 5 .

Mumbai Indians , the most expensive team of the Indian Premier League ,  were once again carried along by Robin Uthappa ( 43 off 36 with one six ) until the local newcomer Abhishek Nayar came along and brought Mumbai Indians to an almost win . He scored 45 off 20 with one six - maybe we will soon see him in the main team - but he has to perform consistently . In the end Dhoni's team managed to contain the Mumbai Indians to 205 and won their second win in this very exciting Indian Premier League . M S Dhoni's experince is comming handy .

This was a close match with reasonably high score - we look forward to many more such matches during the next comming weeks of the Indian Premier League with new overseas players comming in and taking on their duties with their respective teams . By the time this is over we will see a good crop of new palyers on the scene giving the selectors at BCCI further headaches in selecting an Indian Team .

The popularity of the Indian Premier League has been so widely puplicised that there is talk of creating and English Premier League and I understand that money bags for this has already been found !

Mr Lalit Modi should give thanks to Subhash Chandra for starting the Indian Cricket League which pushed BCCI to start with this Indian Premier League .

Your last line really speaks something that has not been openly discussed in the Media. It was indeed due to the ICL that IPL came into picture, even if IPL is miles ahead of its cousin in viewership
